Sportscar racing is the very essence of motorsport; build a car that is sporting and go out and race it. Legendary sportscars: Lola, McLaren, Mercedes, Corvette, Ferrari, Nismo, Ligier – the best chassis’ and engines need the very best sportscar transmission – from Hewland.
International GT racing has evolved considerably in recent years, particularly with the enormous success of the GT2, GT3, and GT4 categories. Hewland gearboxes have had unprecedented success in these classes, having been adopted by a considerable number of high-profile manufacturer vehicles.
Hewland has a number of gearboxes suitable for sportscar racing applications. The TLS-200 6-speed sequential gearbox magnesium casing sequential manual transmission has achieved good success with the Ligier JS-P217 and other GT2 car constructors.
Hewland gearboxes continue to be adopted by Michelotto, with use in the latest developments of the Ferrari 458, claiming GTE-pro class victory at Le Mans in 2014. Using a Hewland 6-speed sequential manual the Ferrari 458 with more than 250 outright and class wins since its introduction in 2011, is arguably Ferrari’s most successful race car to date.
In Japan the Hewland GTTL-200 transmission is tearing up the GT300 class in the Subaru BRZ. Also a magnesium casing design, the lightweight transmission has helped the BRZ to a podium in its early outings.
