As long as there have been touring cars, there have been people who wanted to race them. So, it’s not surprising that race series based on road-cars are amongst the most popular in the world. Hewland has been a major force in shaping these series as a supplier of one-off bespoke products as well as control components.
Touring car race transmissions are typically transverse six-speed sequential racing gearboxes configured for front-wheel drive cars although some series require front-engine rear-drive configurations. Our designs feature packaging that enable a lower center-of-gravity, and a facility for quick ratio changes.
Hewland has a range of products available off-the-shelf that can be used as-is, or adapted for special applications. A full bespoke design service is also available.
Hewland is proud to remain the sole transmission and semi-auto system supplier to the German DTM and Japanese GT500 series. Our involvement with the DTM since 2000 has been testament to the durability and performance of Hewland products.
Hewland is also involved in the supply of transmissions to NASCAR via a partnership with Mid Valley Engineering in the US.
